The Marquis Group is the world’s largest macadamia grower, processor and marketer providing superior quality macadamias to food manufacturing, wholesale and retail customers spanning across five continents. 

We are 100% grower owned, processing 22,000 tonnes per annum through Marquis Macadamias in Australia and 18,000 tonnes per annum through Marquis Macadamias Africa

Both regions are ramping up capacity in the coming years to 60,000 tonnes in Australia and 36,000 tonnes in Africa. The production from these facilities is sold through the jointly-owned company Marquis Marketing, which also sells kernel from other processors around the world.

Currently, industry-leading Marquis Marketing sells and markets a combined 33,000 tonnes of nut-in-shell globally with annual turnover of $292 million. See a snapshot below of how we grew to where we are today.

1983
Four growers establish Macadamia Processing Company (MPC) in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia – 53 tonnes of nut-in-shell.
1985
First container of kernel is packed for export – 400 tonnes of nut-in-shell.
1986
Hawaii, USA MPC’s first overseas kernel market.
1992
MPC becomes Australia’s largest macadamia processing company and the world’s second largest.
Annual turnover $12m+, 3,000 tonnes of nut-in-shell.
1994
European market breakthrough with contract to supply macadamias to Germany.
1996
Annual turnover doubles to $24.4m.
2000
First major promotion with Qantas supplying 500,000 packs of kernel during Sydney Olympics, 223 MPC shareholders (up from 148 in 1998).
2011
Formation of Pacific Gold Macadamias (PGM) in Bundaberg.
2011
Formation of Macadamia Marketing International (MMI) to market and sell combined production of MPC and PGM.
2012
New nut-in-shell receivals system introduced creating improvements in quality of kernel received at factory, and reducing growers’ farm costs and loss of saleable kernel.
2013
Awarded Australian Government grant from Clean Technology Food and Foundries Investment Program, resulting in 97% reduction in reduced carbon emissions from factory’s macadamia drying system.
2015
First macadamia processor in the world to install a 5-log kill step pasteurisation machine ensuring the integrity of all kernel processed.
2017
Acquisition of Agrimac Macadamias in Lismore, NSW.
2019
Installation of 600kW solar panel system in Lismore, NSW.
2019
MPC acquires PGM.
February 2020
MPC, PGM and MMI rebrand to become Marquis Macadamias (MPC and PGM) and Marquis Marketing (MMI).
October 2020
Global Macadamias in South Africa becomes a 50% shareholder in Marquis Marketing. Currently, Marquis Marketing sells and markets a combined 40,000 tonnes of macadamias per annum.
May 2021
Global Macadamias rebrands to Marquis Macadamias Africa to align with the greater vision of the Marquis Group.
